Meat Beats Product Licence Agreement
Licence agreements are usually written to be skimmed past. I've kept this one short and written it in plain English, because I'd genuinely like you to read it. It's still a legally binding agreement between you and Meat Beats – here's what you're agreeing to.
1 - The words used
"Product" means the Meat Beats digital product you obtain under this Agreement.
"Software" means any executable software included in the Product, such as plugins or standalone applications.
"Content" means all non-software assets included in the Product, including presets, samples, impulse responses, wavetables, MIDI files, graphics and other assets.
"Output" means the audio, music or other creative works you create using the Product.
2 - Your licence
When you buy a Meat Beats Product, you're buying a licence to use it rather than ownership of it. Ownership and all intellectual property rights remain with Meat Beats. (That's how digital products generally work; I'm just saying it out loud.)
Your licence is non-exclusive and non-transferable, and it lets you install and use the Product on any computers or devices you own or control, where applicable. Studio machine, laptop, the old Mac in the corner – all fine, as long as they're yours.
3 - What you make is yours
Everything you create with the Product is 100% yours, royalty-free, forever.
Release it, sell it, use it in music, film, games, broadcast, adverts – anything. You'll never owe Meat Beats a penny beyond what you paid for the licence, and you don't need to credit Meat Beats (but feel free to send whatever you make).
4 - The few things you can't do
You may not:
- Resell, redistribute, rent, lease or share the Product, Software or Content
- Make the Product, Software or Content available on file-sharing platforms
- Use the Content, whether modified or unmodified, to create competing commercial products, including sample packs, preset packs, sound libraries or similar products
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or modify the Software
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices
In short: make anything you like with the tools, but don't redistribute the Product itself, or any of its Content in a form that competes with the original.
5 - No warranty
I work hard to make the Product great, but it's provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Use it at your own risk.
6 - Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Meat Beats is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of – or inability to use – the Product.
Please keep backups of your work. (You're doing that anyway, right?)
7 - Termination
This licence lasts until it's terminated. If you breach its terms, it terminates automatically, and you must stop using the Product and delete all copies in your possession or control. Stick to the rules above – they're not demanding – and this will never come up.
8 - Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
